At latch it. (“we”, “us”, “our”), we respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy (Policy) explains how we collect, use, store and disclose your personal information when you visit our website at www.latchit.shop (Website), buy our products or contact us.
Latch it. is a trading name registered to ABN 48 378 939 068, a sole trader based in New South Wales.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
1. What information we collect
Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:
- your name, email address and phone number;
- your billing and delivery addresses;
- your order history, returns and store credit details;
- your customer account details, if you create an account;
- messages and enquiries you send us;
- product reviews and photos you submit;
- your marketing preferences; and
- limited payment details, such as the payment method used. Your full card details are processed by our payment providers and are not seen or stored by us.
When you visit our Website, we may also automatically collect information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, time spent on the Website, the website that referred you, and actions you take on the Website.
We do not ask for sensitive personal information, such as information about your health or religion.
2. How we collect your information
We collect personal information directly from you when you:
- place an order or create an account;
- join our mailing list;
- buy or use an E-Gift Card;
- contact us;
- submit a product review; or
- enter a promotion or giveaway.
We also collect information automatically through cookies and similar technologies (set out in section 5 below), and we may receive information from our service providers, such as Shopify and Meta, for example when you interact with our ads.
You can browse our Website without telling us who you are. However, we need your name, contact details, billing address and delivery address to process an order.

- process, deliver and track your orders;
- provide customer support;
- process returns, refunds and store credit;
- manage E-Gift Cards;
- send you order confirmations and shipping updates;
- send you marketing communications, if you have agreed to receive them;
- run promotions and giveaways;

- measure and improve our advertising;
- prevent fraud and protect our business; and
- comply with our legal obligations.
Shopify's fraud analysis tools may flag orders that appear to be at high risk of fraud. A person reviews any flagged order before we decide whether to cancel it.
4. Marketing communications
We will only send you marketing emails and communications if you have agreed to receive them, for example by joining our mailing list or ticking the marketing box at checkout. We send marketing emails using Shopify Email.
Our marketing emails may include new product launches, new colour drops, exclusive offers, promotions, restocks and product updates.
You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any of our emails, or by contacting us via the get in touch form. We will process your request within 5 business days.
Even if you unsubscribe, we will still send you service communications and messages. For example, information about your orders, such as order confirmations and shipping updates.
5. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies, including general pixels, Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel, to run our Website, understand how it is used, measure our advertising and other services. Our Cookies and Pixels Policy explains what these technologies do and how you can control them.
6. Who we share your information with
We only share your personal information where needed to run our business, including with:
Shopify, which hosts our online store, and the Shopify apps we use to run it (such as for email marketing, reviews and returns);
- Shopify Payments and Shop Pay, to process payments;
- Shop, to provide order tracking and other features if you choose to use the Shop app;
- Australia Post and our other delivery partners, to deliver your orders;
- Google, through Google Analytics, to help us understand how our Website is used;
- Meta, through the Meta Pixel, to measure and improve our advertising on Facebook and Instagram;
- our professional advisers, such as our accountant or lawyer; and
- government authorities or others where we are required or authorised by law.
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
7. Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers, including Shopify, Google and Meta, store or process personal information outside Australia. These countries are likely to include the United States, Canada and Ireland, and may include other countries where those providers or their subcontractors operate.
We use established providers that have their own privacy and security commitments.
8. Storage, security and retention
Your personal information is stored electronically in the systems of our service providers, mainly Shopify.
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, change and disclosure. No method of sending or storing information online is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of information you send us.
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this Policy, or as the law requires. For example, we keep order records for at least 5 years for tax purposes. After that, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.

You can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. You can also ask us to delete your personal information, and we will do so unless we need to keep it by law or for a legitimate business reason, such as an open order.
To make a request, please contact us using the details below at 15. We will respond within 30 days and will not charge you for making a request. If we refuse a request, we will tell you why.
10. Data breaches
If a data breach involving your personal information is likely to cause you serious harm, we will let you know as soon as possible and tell you what steps you can take.

12. Children
Our Website is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to place your order or to help you place it.
